Financial Markets Journalist & Editor – Europe Session

We are expanding our news team and looking for journalists passionate about the market to join us. Specifically, we’re looking for someone with strong financial market knowledge and the proven ability to write breaking news about European financial markets as well as global assets (commodities, U.S. equities, currencies, cryptocurrencies).

This position is offered on a full-time ongoing freelance basis. Will you help us take the Global Team to the next level?

What you’ll be doing:

  • Writing and publishing news covering the Europe market session, including both medium-form (500-700 words) and shorter form (150-300 words) content
  • Topics will include key market instruments and indices, as well as major breaking news in financial markets
  • Coverage will also include U.S. pre-market coverage as relevant to our global audience
  • Coordinate with our existing Europe team as well as U.S. and Asia time zone teams on global coverage

Requirements

Requirements

  • Professional journalism background and experience writing breaking financial news
  • You must have excellent native-level English speaking and writing skills
  • Proven track record in covering European financial markets
  • Experience covering U.S. financial markets is important, and experience with U.K. financial markets is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexible, quick learner, and adaptable to the ups and downs of markets as well as the shifting demands of a fast-paced role
  • Passionate about financial markets and about helping investors and traders understand what’s happening in them
  • Background in online publishing an advantage
  • Any specific expertise in a given sector or asset class a plus

This role will report to our Head of News. We will be asking for writing samples related to this role as part of the hiring process.
